HLTH 4780 - Health Policy Ethics and Law
Critical examination of the legal and ethical dimensions of public health policy formation and change and how legal, ethical, and policy considerations influence health services administration and delivery. Emphasis on fairness in the health care system by examination of certain health topics and how they are seen in the legal system.

Linguistic Coursework
SPAN 1010/1020 - Elementary Spanish
These two courses facilitated a smooth transition to learning to speak a second language. This course promoted the fundamentals of grammar and vocabulary, with an introduction to oral and written aspects of the Spanish language. These courses were supplemented with a lab for extra practice.
SPAN 3020 - Intermediate Spanish Grammer and Composition
The introduction of new verb tenses were explained and taught to students in this course, including the reflexive, condition, preterite, and more. The course focused on free composition of cultural written work by students, emphasized style and syntax in Spanish writing and speaking.
SPN 352- Spanish Civilization and Culture (Seville)
Provided a comprehensive exploration of Spanish society, history, arts, politics, and customs from its pre-historic roots to the present day, examining how major historical events and cultural influences shaped modern Spain.
SPAN 4180 - Technical Spanish for Health Professionals
Study of health care systems organization, reforms, decentralization in Latin American and the Caribbean, including comparison to the healthcare system in the United States. Heavy influence on the business portion of the international healthcare industry.
SPAN 2010/2010 - Intermediate Spanish
Intermediate Spanish provided a mixture of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. Introduction of how to form intermediate grammatical structures assisted in developing a higher language proficiency. Additional lab credits introduced a cultural and literary perspective of the Spanish world.
Spanish for Health Professionals (Seville)
This course was one of the most beneficial Spanish courses I took throughout my college career, as it was the first time I was introduced to the subject of health care in the Spanish language. This coursed focused on verbs, vocabulary, and situation having to do with health. Site visits and an oral presentation was required for course completion furthering proficiency in Spanish healthcare.
SPAN 301 - Advanced Spanish (Seville)
Cultural and linguistic proficiency was taught through conversation, composition, dictation, and intensive grammar review. This including field experience, literary readings, and exposure to new cultural perspectives.
SPAN 4190 - Health and the Hispanic Community
Study of cultural aspects of health and health services in Hispanic populations, especially those living in America. Study of social determinants of health in immigrant and Spanish-speaking populations in the United States, and how these determinants shape health decisions and outcomes.

HLTH 2020 - Introduction to Public Health
An introductory public health course explains the current influences in health delivery systems, health practices, and trends. A thorough examination of population and public health theories and models is also completed, as well as explanation of many new health public health concepts.
HLTH 2400 - Determinants of Health Behavior
Explanation of many health behavior theories that explain all levels of association in a health care situation or system. En emphasis on psychological, social, environment, and individual factors and their influence on health, with a extensive Literature Review project to finish the course, which can be found in my Public Health Artifacts section.
HLTH 3030 - Public Health Communication
Introduction to the use of health and communication theory by means of social marketing strategies to create effective, evidence-based, culturally appropriate health communication messages and campaigns. This course highlighted channels of communication, types of claims, and included a community health reach project from students to display health communication knowledge at then end of the course.
HLTH 2030 - Overview of Health Care Systems
Introduction to the American health care delivery system, including its foundation, primary characteristics, resources and processes. Explanation of the role of individuals and organizations in a health care system, with an emphasis on insurance programs in the United States.
HLTH 2980 - Human Health and Disease
Human health and disease course that overviews behavioral and biological factors that correlate with major human diseases and conditions. An in depth discussion occurs with details about many prevalent diseases in todays society. This course also emphasizes the best health practices to reduce diseases and negative conditions.
HLTH 3100 - Women's Health
Exploration of specific health needs of women, with emphasis on understanding and preventing problems of women’s health. The course covered topics from the birthing process to sexually transmitted diseases that affect women. The course was accompanied by a book club that examined a story about a midwife in Mali and her role in healthcare as a woman in a less developed country.

Introduces epidemiological principles and methods used in the study of the origin, distribution, and control of disease. Incorporates statistics with specific health outcomes and terminology including examples such as prevalence, incidence, and more.
HLTH 4900 - Research and Evaluation Strategies for Public Health
Discussion of research in health. Focuses on analysis of reported research. Ethical, moral, and legal issues are discussed. Including themes of variability, credibility, data collection, and knowledge is tested through a final research project.

Continuation of BIOL 2220 covering endocrine, reproductive, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, and digestive systems; fluid and electrolyte balance. Physiology is stressed. Accompanied by a lab credit that looks at the anatomy side of the class.
